Intercoastal Marine was formed in the spring of 2000 by Terry Martin, a Certified Marine Mechanic, who started his career back in 1987 with Imperial Marine. The business started out as a sole proprietorship operating out of one bay on the grounds of Chesapeake Yachting Center. Competitive pricing, quick turnaround and integrity are the foundation of the business. Through word-of-mouth and based on the quality of service provided, the company has grown tremendously over the years. Intercoastal Marine now operates out of a larger facility at Chesapeake with a total of four mechanics.

Protec Marine

January 7th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in 123 Triad

Protec Marine PTY LTD was formed in 1994 after negotiations with the Southern Blue-fin Tuna Industry and the Australian Government. Both principles of the company saw the need for a flexible independent business to handle the complex task of counting individual fish into grow-out cages from tow cages for quota and husbandry purposes. Both principles before the formation of the company had been involved with the SBT Fishery since 1985. Since their first contract with the Federal Government in 1994, they have been responsible each season for the counting of Southern Bluefin Tuna into grow-out cages for quota purposes.

During their involvement with the fishery they have been at the forefront of development of almost all procedures adopted by the Federal Government and Industry. Overseas tuna farm operations are beginning to realize the importance of knowing the number of tuna captured and transferred into and from tow cages. Their camera systems have been used since 1994 and give the user a reliable platform to record and perform counting operations in a sometimes harsh and unforgiving marine environment. Southern Bluefin Tuna Farm monitoring operations involves the accurate counting of individual SBT during transfers into static or grow-out cages. This also involves determining the weight of fish transferred for quota purposes.
